Impressive old school Maya execution!
But I'm wondering why you didn't approach this in the Zbrush method you normally share with us? Isn't it faster to sculpt it out and then topo the lowpoly mesh on after?
Is this all-maya approach more similar to what you do for projects in feature animation?
Thanks So much for sharing man, as usual your work is SUPER inspiring, and a great way to start my day.
cheers!
Impressive! I always love watching folks poly model in Maya, only because the process is so foreign to me.
Am looking forward to the next one.
Like the new design.
Don't know if you remember but you gave me the authorization to do this concept in 3D. It's done in ZBrush as you can see on my website :

Don't know if you plan to do a render, but in the begining i wanted to do a render in Arnold. Can i do ? Or maybe if you do a render, i didn't do it.
Tell me what do you think about it ...
@Polygon Sean (how cool of a damn name is that! I'm super jealous and hate you now! :-) ). Since I know more or less what the design and proportions are, I'm OK with just polymodeling most of the mass, and then adjusting the masses via sculpting later. Zbrush is great for me as a design tool, when I'm not sure where things will go or what the proportion will be etc. Plus, it's been a while since I poly modeled for fun :-) I do it at work all the time though, still nothing you working on your own little projects, right! :-) Thanks for the kind words man. You're OK, for a dude with a name way cooler than mine!
haha!
You are freakin' awesome man!
@ Nicolas, dude, he looks cool! Feel free to render him etc. I have plans on changing him a bit in the sculpting phase too. Even if we tried, we could never come up with the same version because we are not robots (well, I know I'm not a robot, for all I know, you could be a robot.... Are you a Robot Nic!!! Is Skynet going to kill us! TELL ME, PLEASE!!!! :-) Naw, seriously, he looks cool man, I'm beyond honored to took one of my crappy paintings and made it 1000 X cooler by applying your skills to it man. There's enough room for both of us to make our own cool versions, but thank you so much for being so considerate and asking. You rock sir, human or robot.
No i'm not a robot ... i think ;)
Thanks to share your concept and for the kind comments.
I will show you the final image. And i'm going to follow your thread. It's very interesting to see poly modeling ! Because it's very rare to see it in video, although it's the base ...
Cheers
That's really nice man! Love it!
